Fun kid’s book! Creative and imaginative–fitting not only the age group but appropriate for what’s in with kids today. At only 40+ pages it’s a fast and easy read for kids. It made me smile! At 99 cents, it’s a steal that’s well worth the dollar. Of course I’m bias–pretty proud of my kids for writing this.

After School Special…If you know what that is, then you fit into my generation. This is what this story type reminds me of. It’s a short fun story that has a relevant moral/message to tell.
My 11 year old granddaughter enjoyed the read just as much as I did. Looking forward to reading more from the Livingston’s.

It’s a light-hearted book that addresses some important life concerns, all the while keeping things fun for the reader. I highly recommend it to anyone, and I think young readers will especially enjoy it.

Can’t wait for the next installment!

This book tells a creative story with fun, loveable characters. It’s perfect for middle-grade readers and shares important life lessons that only children can teach because they come with no assumptions and are still filled with curiosity. Fifth Grade Screams is sure to deliver more fun stories in the future.

The book is a children’s book and very easy to read both for children and adults. It’s about 3 friends, Jean, Nix and Eddy, whose town witnessed an invasion of zombies (called reanimated in the book) and Big Foot. The book talked about the bravery of these 3 and their families in accepting these visitors.

I liked that apart from having some elements of hilarity in it, the names of the characters were also strange. For instance, Jean’s Dad was named Wzen and her mum was One of Three.

I never look out for quotes in children’s books, but this one got me:

“Just because we don’t understand them doesn’t make them monsters or even a threat. These roaming dead are just as shocked as we are. They are trying to figure out where to go.”

It’s a great thing to teach kids to be accepting of others and I believe everyone can learn from this.

This book was a fun and quick read. Not too scary for kids but interesting enough to be entertaining. I do wish we found out a little more of what happened with the reanimates–maybe in the next book?

FGS: The Roaming Dead is a wonderful first installment in what’s likely to be a hit series. It plays very well to its audience; it’s exciting, relatable, hilarious, and is the perfect length and style for young readers.

The story is fairly straightforward. I wish it had been fleshed out a bit more to stand on its own, but as a likely episode of a larger series it works well. Can’t wait to read more; Team Nix, Jean, and Eddy all the way!

Such a fun, cute, and easy read! It’s got adventure and friendship, and deals well with the subject of bullying. I’d suggest it for any youth, but especially those who know what it’s like to deal with this struggle.

I was sent a copy of the book Fifth Grade Screams: The Roaming Dead by @livingstonwriting to review.
It is a short story about a group of friends who discover that the recently dead have been reanimated. The story is perfect for primary KS1 level. It is funny with themes that will appeal and has messages of acceptance and standing up for those who don’t have a voice in society. “I want to be the type of man who fights for kids who don’t have anyone fighting for them”
This book would be a perfect starter for a series of books based on the same characters.

We have been asked by #livingstonwriting to review the book #5thgradescreams: the roaming dead, and since I (@chiarazurla) am the #bookdropmember who reads everything about zombies, monsters etc, it was my turn! The book is a short story of about 40 pages for a public of young readers.
Soon after schoolmates and best buddies Nix and Jean befriend Eddy, the new kid in town, something mysterious occurs, which starts concerning all adults. The three friends begin investigating the mystery, which is soon revealed: the undead have risen. The kids families (one more funny and peculiar than the other) join forces to support each other. While the town prepares for the invasion of the dead, Nix, Jean and Eddy run into Barnaby, a little zombie kid, who cannot speak and who’s just very, very scared. With the help of their families, the three friends introduce Barnaby to the town, preventing a certain confrontation. This short story is full of great positive messages, like generosity, tolerance and respect, and I am looking forward to more adventures in the future. Thanks to @livingstonwriting for sending me their book Fifth Grade Screams: The Roaming Dead in turn for my honest thoughts and this bookstagram. This was a fun middle grade read for kids. It’s about three quirky 5th grade friends and their parents trying to figure how to deal with a zombie (or reanimates as they are called in the book) situation. I enjoyed the fact that this was light-hearted as opposed to scary, so it would be a good early chapter book for kids. This book made me smile because the characters and the dialogue were whimsical and fun. Fifth Grade Screams: The Walking Dead is a rather lighthearted children’s book for its title.
Three friends in the town Bellybutton stand up for the “reanimates” (or the walking deads), who are risen from their graves.

The story follows three 5th graders Nix, Jean and Eddy. They were having their usual school week when the classes are cancelled all of a sudden. As the town prepares for an invasion by the dead, Nix and Jean sort the misunderstanding by picking Barnaby one of the reanimates and avert a major confrontation between the dead and the living. Short, funny, and easy to undertand, this book is filled with positivity. And is a great bedtime read for your child in elementary school. Especially if they love sci-fi and zombie stuff.

Its filled with some really important values too, the book teaches kids to stand up for someone who cannot do it themselves, as well as love for their siblings and animals. This is going to be an interesting series.

The book is available for just 99 cents and the link for ordering can be found in the bio of @livingstonwriting **requested review**

    Hi bookworms?,
This is a fantastic quick-read, for kids as well as adults by @livingstonwriting. The book opens with a charming chapter – a new friendship made by young Eddy who just moved to a new neighbourhood. I laughed a lot with the lovable main characters.
The first chapter of the book is particularly memorable, keeping readers wanting to know more.
Young readers will find this book easy to follow because it relates closely to their experiences and encourages them to use their imagination.
Readers will learn many good lessons and values in a fun and enjoyable way. I highly recommend this exciting and hilarious book! It would be super fun to read over long holidays.

@livingstonwriting reached out to me via DM, and asked me to read and give an honest review of their book: Fifth Grade Screams: The Roaming Dead, so thank you to them for the opportunity
    .
Fifth Grade Screams: The Roaming Dead follows two bestfriends, Nix and Jean-Luc as they enter middle school and meet Eddy. The trio become fast friends and together investigate the mystery of why all the adults are acting weird, while avoiding getting caught and grounded
    .
This was a super fun, and super cute middle grade book! I was definitely chuckling as I read and would have absolutely loved this read when I was in 5th grade and obsessed with Zombie stories. I would recommend it to readers who liked Goosebumps and the Rick Riordan books, but any young fans of Fantasy / Sci-Fi will surely enjoy it

Fifth Grade Screams: The Roaming Dead

I’ll start by saying I am not an expert in any way on children’s books; but, when Livingston Writing asked me on Instagram to review the book I was very excited to have an author requested review so I went for it!! In exchange for my review they were kind enough to give me a free electronic copy of this book.

The books narrates a group of friends that live on the same street and go to school together. The characters are very unique and attention grabbing even for adults. Specifically, there is a character that is in a wheelchair and as a mother of a child with special needs, it’s very cool to see genuine diversity in the characters.

The book discusses their newly formed friendship, the fifth grade, and very funny social interactions between the kids and parents. This book has a lot of comedy which is perfect for the age group it is written for.

Further along you begin to find out more about the title “The Walking Dead” and how the characters become a big part of the chaos. It’s not too scary and towards the end it is actually very heart warming. As an adult, there are some hidden lessons on true acceptance of those different from us. I think this book gives that message at a time when our children need it the most.

The chapters are small (1-2 pages) and the writing seems to fit the age group in my opinion. The book cover is well thought out and relevant to the story. I also assuming this book is the beginning of a series which is very cool and I would definitely consider reading more. I also think this book is a good way to get children interested in sci-fi and mystery book genres.

Check out the site below where you can purchase the book for only 99 cents!! I’ll also include their GoodReads link as well.

My daughter and I read this book aloud and give it a 4.5 rating!! Happy reading, amigos!

Not a big fan of E-Books but this one is really good, It’s exclusively a digital book (sadly), nevertheless the book has an interesting story with a Believable and a realistic explanation of ‘Zombies’ which at this point is a very cliche genre in Books & Movies today but this book makes it very interesting. It does end on a cliff hanger and I’m excited to see where this series goes.

Fifth Grade Screams: The Living Dead is a nice light book which you definitely want to read if somehow you are in a reading slump or just need a light book to bring during your short trip from one place to another. And despite its light and short story, it was really engaging enough in a fun way. I definitely enjoyed reading it. Also, you could relate to it in a way considering we all have been kids before. Let’s also not forget about some movies references in this book! I’m definitely loving the parents as well! Jean’s parents seem to be my favorite with how quirky and unique they are. Fifth Grade Screams: The Roaming Dead by @livingstonwriting was a truly enjoyable read. There was good diversity in the characters, including representation for disabled children through the character Mems. I loved the scene where the three main kids discussed their unusual names as that is something I relate to growing up with an uncommon name ? the ending is also very unexpected and fun and is sure to evoke some laughter. I think both kids and adults alike would love to read about Nix, Jean and Eddy and hope to see more from of them in the future. #book #bookstagram #bookreview #childrensbooks #kidsbooks #art #artist #artistsoninstagram #artstudent

I had my 9 year old read Fifth Grade Screams, and here’s what she said: It was funny, it was easy to read (it’s 15 chapters, and she read this book in about an hour), she liked it, and she wishes it was a series book so she can read more just like it. So overall a definite win for her! #FifthGradeScreams #FrankLivingston #JaneeLivingston #LivingstonWriting #TweenBook #4thGradeReading #KidsWhoRead #RaisingReaders #GoodReads #KidsBook #ChapterBooks #4thGrade #5thGrade #TheRoamingDead #ZombieKidsBook #bibliophile #reviews #bloggerkids #kidbooks #kidbookstagram #OhMyLitReviews #SomeLinds

In the town of Bellybutton, three unsuspecting fifth graders stumble across an unforeseen adventure and show us what true courage and heroism means by standing up for those who cannot do so themselves – Even if they are members of the undead.

Fifth Grade Screams: The Roaming Dead follows the story of friends Nix, Jean and Earth (But you can call him Eddy) as they go about their day-to-day lives at school, where you can trade with the sixth graders or go home to have kale chips (I have, indeed, tastes these in real life. And let me tell you – They might be healthy, but it’s definitely an acquired taste!).

During school one week they are urgently sent home, and arrive to find out later that evening that the undead have risen. After being dubbed ‘The Reanimates’, Nix, Jean and Eddy help to play advocate for their reanimated friend’s – Barnaby – plea for a voice – As he can only communicate in grunts.

While their adventure was a bit short-lived (In my opinion) – Fifth Grade Screams provides a relaxed background, with some comedic relief for those of us who are older, while teaching invaluable lessons.

I believe that this series of books will gain momentum, and that these books are well worth reading with and to your children. After all, isn’t reading a platform for just and kind people?

I gave a formal review & 4.5 rating on my blog. Check it out at kateyreads.wordpress.com!

I read this book aloud with my 8 year old daughter and found it to be very entertaining. I enjoyed the character diversity, the unique living situations and lifestyles as well. I like how the book gave good lessons on accepting people for who they are which is something our kids strongly need right now in this world. I suspect this book is the beginning of a series and I look forward to reading books that follow!

Honestly, if you are looking for a nice light book to read which could offer you some light and fun reading, I recommend this book for you!
